This position requires a highly creative individual with exceptional abstract problem-solving abilities and a rigorous attention to detail. Flexibility with regard to challenging tasks and assignment priorities is a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to maintain clear and concise technical documentation. Individual will be responsible for developing and implementing novel pulse sequences on 1.5Tand 3T GE scanners with emphasis on brain, optic nerve, and spinal cord imaging.


  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical/Applied Physics, Optical Sciences, or equivalent
  • Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical/Applied Physics, Optical Science, OR PhD in Medical Physics
  • Extensive experience with design, development, and implementation of novel pulse sequences on 1.5T and 3T GE scanners with emphasis on the brain, optic nerve and spinal cord
  • Operation of MR scanners
  • Extensive experience with scanner protocol implementation, pulse sequence compatibility, training of MR technicians, and consulting for multi-site project
  • Experience in Radio Frequency Circuit design (equivalent substitute to experience requirement is MS or PhD in Medical/Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Optical Sciences or Electrical Engineering with significant coursework in MR physics and RF theory)
  • Experience in MRI spectroscopy, functional imaging, or echo-planar imaging
  • Excellent mathematics, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent implementation skills
  • Willing to submit to a background investigation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral thesis in MRI physics
  • Experience in MR Hardware, RF Coils, and Parallel Imaging techniques
  • Understanding of electromagnetic field theory and circuit design
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of factors that affect MR image quality
  • Proficiency in circuit analysis and field simulation CAD
  • Experience leading projects and also interfacing with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Experience with image processing and image analysis program
  • Familiarity with diverse computer operating systems and programming
  • Data analysis, writing grant proposals and scientific papers
  • Project Leadership skills, experienced in developing program plans and estimates
  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments highly preferred
