The MRI Technologist devotes 100% of their work time to the acquisition of MRI images (scanning) on ultra-high field and high-field scanners. Responsibilities will begin exclusive to a small animal 9.4T magnet and will expand to the human/large animal 3T magnet.



  • Knowledge of MR scanner operation and safety
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced medical research environment with excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to be highly productive under time constraints with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical/Applied Physics, Optical Sciences or equivalent
  • Large animal handling skills a plus
  • Experience with scanner protocol implementation, pulse sequence compatibility
  • Experience training others on MRI a plus
  • Strong computer skills
  • Extensive experience in medical research field
  • Scientific/research background preferred
  • MRI Sequence Development experience a plus

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scan small animals (mouse and rat) and tissue samples on 9.4T scanner
  • Scan humans and large animals (all body parts) on 3T scanner
  • Ensure safety around magnet, including training co-investigators, re: MRI safety in the magnet room
  • Implementation of MRI protocols
  • Administration of MRI scanners
  • Development of standard operating procedures and process guidelines
  • Duties may involve image analysis and reconstruction
